All the way from the Isle of Man, these primitive sheep share breed origins with Soay, Hebridean, Shetland and others. "Loaghtan" is the Manx word for brown and this breed's colour is/was highly prized in the textile industry. Not the softest breed, so those who are sensitive may not want a cowl made from it but I would definitely use it for hats, mitts, slippers or household textiles. I keep waffling about keeping it for myself but I need to share.
Items made from this yarn should be handwashed. A great product for this is SOAK which you can also find in my shop. I also use it to set the twist in all my skeins.
