Susie Gourlay
Fibre Artist ~ Wool Judge ~ Professional Craftsperson
I live in the heart of the prairies in the province of Saskatchewan. Our winters are long, dark and very cold, which is why I spend most of my days trying to keep warm with natural fibres. Wool is warm in the winter and cool in the summer. It has a good memory, is naturally antibacterial, it is also breathable and fire retardant. Wool is perfection found in nature. I also love alpaca, silk, angora, quivit and goat fibres.
I am a member of the Sask Craft Council, the Regina Weavers and Spinners Guild, the Saskatchewan Weaver and Spinners Guild, and Handmade Saskatchewan. I teach fibre arts classes at Cindy-Rella's Sewing and Quilting and I am a wool judge.
I strive to promote the benefits of natural fibres using classic methods to bring out their best qualities while creating style and function. Fibre is a passion and an addiction, it fills my mind 24/7. Creating a handmade object from start to finish is a very rewarding process for me, I use quality fibres and put my heart and soul into everything I make. You can check out my Press section to see examples of my work.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or just want to say hi!
