***The Release Date is September 13, 2019*** I wanted to create an oracle deck for knitters, which evolved into a deck for fibre artists. The pictures include finished objects, works in progress, handspun skeins, woven pieces, cats, wool, and more. All the images are my own. There is one image which doesn't have the greatest resolution - and that is the card with my Xena on it. She passed away last year at the age of 20 and I wanted to include her in this deck. Includes a coupon code for a free copy of my soon-to-be-released Ebook (Knitted Mini Collection) called Insight which includes a Shawl/Foraging bag/Altar Mat, Tarot/Crystal Reticule, Necklace using Gemstones This deck is meant to be used alongside your intuition. I am working on a separate guidesheet which will aid in keyword support. This deck can be used alone or alongside your favorite tarot deck to give a greater insight into your readings. Since each card is inscribed with one word, there is no learning curve like traditional tarot. Use your intuition along with the images to unravel your answers/meanings. Unraveled can be used daily as: - A Divination Tool - Connection to Spirit - Dream Interpretation - Self reflection - An affirmation deck or gratitude focus - To aid in journal prompts - SO much more! What is an Oracle Deck? It is very similar to a tarot deck as it is used as a tool for divination, guidance and self-reflection. What makes it different is there are no set suits (pentacles, cups, swords, wands) or archetypes needed to derive meanings from the images. Each card has an inspirational sentiment or thought which can then be used to delve deeper into the question or reading. Oracle decks don't require training of any sort. Card Details: 2.75" X 4.75" (70×120mm) 330 gsm Superior Smooth Rounded Corners Shrink Wrapped Comes in a Cloth Bag with Hand Stamped Image #UnraveledOracle Unravel Your Path

I've spun a few new skeins since my back surgery last fall. Some already have dibs on them, but the remainder will be listed in my Shop in the next little bit. I even have a new fibre (!) - Manx Loaghtan which was an interesting spin. I have also been back full time into teaching classes. I've updated what I know of so far on my Classes page if you are interested in learning new and exciting things this year.
Here is a sneak peek:
It has been a very busy start of the year, with 6 classes this month alone I have been very focused on fibre arts. I have updated my class schedule for what I know right now. Keep checking back as new classes are added. Crochet seems very popular lately! I am currently teaching in 3 different studios and all are such wonderful places. I have been at the Blue Rooster Cafe & Studio in Pilot Butte for several years. They are one of my favourite places to teach as they also have great food and drinks. I have been with Red Fox Creative Studio for almost a year now but have taught many classes there since they started up. What I really love about them is that they are also a wellness studio so they focus on not only being creative but also your well-being. Check out their classes for a wonderful variety! As you know my friend Nicole opened up Regina's newest yarn shop a few months ago. The Naked Sheep Yarn & Fibre Emporium has become a regular hangout for me because I can find all I need there. She has fibre, yarn, tools, notions, and more - many from local artisans (and who doesn't love hand dyed yarns?) She has opened up a class schedule this year and I am teaching a few things there. Some 4 week classes and some afternoon workshops. Check in to see other classes she offers for all levels. I have also tweeked Bankhead once again after knitting one for my nephew Angus. I wanted to keep my pattern format similar so I changed the file. I also took it out of Canva and onto word so I could make a MUCH smaller PDF as I heard from some that the download size was on the big side. I was also talking to a friend who knit Bankhead in Noro and said the K3tog were cumbersome and I agreed. I changed the decreases yet again. I have updated the pattern on Ravelry and my pattern page on this site as well. If you want a quick reference, the decreases are as follows: Round 1: *k1, k2tog, k1, p1* repeat from * to * until end of round 48 (56, 64, 72, 80, 88) stitches remaining Round 2: knit across all stitches Round 3: *k3, p1* until end of round 48 (56, 64, 72, 80, 88) Round 4: knit across all stitches Round 5: *sl2kpsso, p1* 24 (28, 32, 36, 40, 44) Round 6: knit across all stitches Round 7: *k2tog* until end of round 12 (14, 16, 18, 20, 22) Round 8: *k2tog* until end of round 6 (7, 8, 9, 10, 11) For Adult M & XL sizes ONLY: Round 9: k1, *k2tog* until end - (-, -, 5, -, 6) I have also restocked on 16 oz bottles of Power Scour. This amazing wool wash is THE cats pyjamas if you are processing your own fleeces. I also use it to clean my carpets in our Bissel as well as washing our dog when she has been through the muck and dirt at the dog park. Use Power Scour for wool washing and wool cleaning fiber with heavier burdens of grease, wax, suint, dirt and clay, typically found in sheep, goat and bison fibers. Use lower temperatures, 40°-50°C (104-122°F), for fibers such as Cashmere, Alpaca, Bison ,etc. Use higher temperatures, 50°-55°C (122-131°F), for fibers with more oil/wax or oils (sheep, etc.) - Optimize cleaning at lower temperatures - Incredible STAIN REMOVER - even Red Wine! - Eliminates build–up of cleaning agents - Cost effective –– use significantly less to scour - Reduces mats and tangles - Eliminates ODORS – Non–yellowing - - Leaves fiber with a clean, fresh aroma - Biodegradable – Earth Friendly – no Fillers- no Bleach I have also been accepted to go to the 5th Etsy Captains' Summit in Toronto this spring. I will be mingling with other Etsy Leaders and Captains from all over Canada to discuss this year. I hope to learn more amazing things Etsy has planned and will share them with you when I come home. This will be my 4th year going. The Etsy SK team has also booked for 2 spring Made in Canada Sales (one in Saskatoon - May 12 & one in Regina - May 5) as well as two fall Made in Canada Sales on Sept 29th. Watch our Facebook page and our website for more info on those.
I have restocked on Unicorn Power Scour in my Etsy shop - Professional Grade Wool Wash for cleaning your fleeces & raw fibre. 16 oz bottles
Use higher temperatures, 50°-55°C (122-131°F), for fibers with more oil/wax or oils (sheep, etc.) This is the product I use to wash all my fleeces because it is the BEST! I will be bringing it with me to Blue Hills Fibre Festival next weekend I crocheted this hat using merino I dyed to get a pebbled look but I needed to take better pics. Merino is the softest of all the wool breeds so this yarn isn't itchy at all. Hat measures 18.5" around and 6" from crown to brim. I was babysitting my niece & nephews this past weekend so took that time to do better justice for this cute hat. This is Kale, he originally said he didn't want to be my model but luckily changed his mind. It was his idea to pretend to read a book to make the pictures look more natural haha.
I made a few of these hats and just have this one left so I decided to knock the price down by 40%. You can find it in my Etsy Shop. I didn't have much left after the Etsy Holiday Pop-up Market but I did a bit of a shop update with some yarns and hats - including the original Frosty Morning hat! I've been holding onto it hoping to keep it for myself but I've never worn it and I hate to see it go unused. Its crocheted from Noro Kochoran which is a wool/silk/angora blend - super luxurious! The cloche hat is a new style for me. I've added some handspun buttons as a bit of a detail on the side. The slouchy brown wool hat is similar to my other slouchy crocheted hats but with a cute nest button. The yarns are spun from fibres I have been hoarding in my stash as they are just so gorgeous. More to come :D
Starting today, until the end of the month I am offering a coupon code to use in my Etsy shop for 15% off the 12 oz bottles of Soak in the Celebration scent. Just type CELEBRATE15 when you check out. The scent is sweet, delicate and absolutely delicious, this perennial favourite smells like good, clean fun. Soak is a pure, gentle and deliciously scented way to wash the delicate items you care about most. I use this product to set the twist on all my skeins. This rinse-free formula is perfect for washing your laciest lingerie, your softest sweaters, hand-made quilts and even baby clothes. Soak is designed with fabric-friendly ingredients that revitalize fibers so they look great and last longer. Soak is safe for both hand and machine washing, including HE. Great for blocking. Use Soak on lingerie, swimwear, knits, quilts, workout wear, dance wear and all the stuff you love most! Even your dog! 12oz bottles: 75 washes The very popular Heel in the Cucumber scent has been re-stocked in my shop. This foot creme makes a great gift for those your knit socks for or even yourself. It feels wonderful on and smells good as well!
I am pleased to announce that I am adding another wonderful product to my business. I am now a proud dealer for Unicorn Products. They are the makers of Power Scour, a professional grade wool wash. This is what I use to wash all my fleeces. Superior washing at lower temperatures (even hard water), helps with reducing mats and tangles and eliminates odors. This product really makes the process of washing raw fibre SO much easier. It is biodegradable and earth friendly. Currently, I am the only supplier in Saskatchewan and will be bringing this to the Manitoba Fibre Festival as well. I will have these products in stock soon.
For the Friday Fibre update I have added a skein which is made from a super awesome blend of Alpaca, Merino and Silk (50/30/20). 256 yards of pure bliss. Click the above picture for my details and pictures.
It's here!!!!Soak items have been updated in the shop. There are 2 new scents in the line-up; Fig and Yuzu and I am having trouble picking my favourite. The fig is a delightful blend of fig, lychee and dandelions. It smells wonderful! The Yuzu is a mix of citrus and eucalyptus, nice and light. I really appreciate how the SOAK scents are subtle, and not overpowering at all. Not only do they smell good they also have so many other great benefits. They are dye-free, non toxic, phosphate free, made with plant-derived ingredients, and biodegradable. And that's just on the inside. The bottle itself is recyclable and the inks are water soluble. You can feel good about using this non-rinse wash on all your fine fibres from handknits, baby items, swim suits, gym wear, lingerie, and quilts and so much more (including pets). You can even use it in your HE washing machine. If you haven't tried SOAK now is your chance. I have a couple 3 oz bottles left in stock as well as 2 - 14 oz bottles of Aquae (discontinued) left and you can snag them for $12 each which is a 25% discount.
The fun doesn't stop there. You can also try out the Handmaid luxury hand creme which is non-greasy and a great size for your purse or while traveling. No more snagging your project with rough hands. Are you a sock knitter, or have a sock knitter in your life? Heel is a wonderful product for - you guessed it, your feet. It comes in 3 soothing scents; Peppermint, Spearmint and Cucumber and unscented as well. These also make great gifts - for feet worthy of handknit socks. If you are curious about a certain scent, let me know, or come see me at any of my upcoming sales. I can't rave about this product enough. All my handspun skeins are washed in SOAK to set the twist and I trust this product with my most delicate fibres. And yes, I have washed our dog Jenny in it :) This marks the halfway point in the 12 Days of Christmas Sale. I've been having a lot of fun with it :) The next item to offer, has been a popular one. My spa milkshakes are packaged neatly to make a great gift. Ingredients include: an extra large spa cloth, bath puff and a homemade soap all with a cherry on top! The spa cloth and bath puff are made with a high quality cotton/acrylic blend, so you get the softness and absorbency of the cotton with the lightweight characteristics of acrylic so these cloths will stay soft when they dry. The soap is an organic base.
Today's Deal ~ $15.00 each (Regular price is $25.00) Since it has been SO cold the past couple days I decided that for the 4th Day of Christmas I should offer a skein of handspun Merino in case you wanted to whip up a nice toque or miss or cowl or whatever you'd like.
"Bird, bird, bird, b, b, b, bird is the word" (yes, that's Jeremy's colourway naming) - WPI = 13 which classifys as a DK weight - Approx 198 yards 4oz - Nice soft shades of pink, blue, green and white -This yarn has been n-plied Merino wool is a superior wool in my opinion, it is fine and thus very soft, it is very lightweight and a nice classic wool. This skein is normally $35 but.... Today's Deal ~ $25.00 (That's a $10 savings and almost 30% off!) This is a one-of-a-kind item so once it's gone that's it. Items made from this yarn should be handwashed in cold water and laid flat to dry. I will also throw in a mini soak sample of your choice with this skein. This deal will be over on Dec 9 For Day 3, I have another great deal to offer. I have a couple of Spinner Starter Kits with Corriedale or Southdown wool. If you or someone you know is looking to learn how to spin and would like a great starter spindle and 4 oz of fibre to practice on these kits are exactly what you are looking for. Corriedale is a
great wool for both the beginner and advanced spinner. I really like it because its a nice soft fibre, not slippery and the staple length is nice and average. Southdown is a medium/down breed sheep and their fibre provides bulk without the weight. This wool is lofty and springy. Great for socks, hats, mitts and sweaters. It is a very versatile wool with a medium-soft feel. The top whorl spindles are made from maple. These kits went like crazy at the Manitoba Fibre Festival and you can get your hands on one too but only until Dec 7th. These usually sell for $25 each but.... Today's Deal ~ $15.00 each (That's a 40% discount!) *I have 3 Corriedale kits and 1 Southdown kit available* Well the first day of Christmas was fun, but we must move on to day 2! Use as you normally would. Wool is naturally antibacterial so this soap won't turn moldy in your shower. When not in use, store it in a self draining soap dish and the bar will last up to a year! Use Soak on lingerie, swimwear, knits, quilts, workout wear, dance wear and all the stuff you love most! Celebration: Sweet, delicate and absolutely delicious, this perennial favourite smells like good, clean, fun. Well Jeremy and I have moved into our new home and have been here a couple weeks now. We enjoy our large kitchen and making meals together. I have been trying a few new things, like soup; which didn't turn out too bad. It needs work but it was only my first attempt. I'm happy with how my garden is growing and we have harvested a lot of food out of it. Pumpkins will be next ;) Even though our move was bittersweet as we left our first house we aren't looking back as this new house is a huge upgrade for us. We actually have a bathtub now, and closets! I have my own studio space as well. It feels nice to spread all my stuff out and to work in my own quiet space. My cats like to hang out with me and watch me spin, or they sleep in the sun and relax. They are very happy here. Jenny has a bit more trouble dealing with change but she has slowly been adjusting.
This is my workspace. Here sits my sewing machine, which I also need to learn more about. I made a dress for my nieces 3rd birthday but had a lot of help from my mom. This area also houses my ball winder and swift which get used fairly often. I have all my needles and hooks stored in the drawers, this way I will finally know where they are when I need them. I also have an old radio in here where I can listen to music when I'm working. Its a shortwave radio so sometimes I can find some interesting stations from around the world. This is my yarn cabinet. All my yarn is in here. My stash is a lot smaller now than it was when I started knitting. Since learning to spin, I find I don't really buy yarn anymore. I mean I do if its a good price or from A to Z Alpacas or bought as souvenir yarn (yes there is such thing). But 99% of the time I work with mostly handspun now.
I have made up a bunch of spinner started kits to stock in my shop and at sales. If you want to learn how to spindle spin, these kits come with a quality top whorl spindle and your choice of fibre in 4 oz quantities. BFL (white and brown), Merino, Corriedale, and Organic Merino. They will be available to purchase soon. Once I get some instructions written, I will add these to the package and make them Learn to Spin Kits. Speaking of sales, I will be at the first annual Manitoba Fibre Festival on Sept 28th. It sounds like a really good day for fibre people. I will be there judging the wool show and Jeremy will be working in the Knit Natural booth. We made a bunch of felted soap tonight, and I have a few more items to work on before then. The following weekend on Oct 4th and 5th I will be participating in the Cream of the Crop craft sale. Also in October the Regina Weavers and Spinners Guild will be holding their annual sale. Come out and see the fine work that our members produce. I've got two sales in November as well and believe it or not they are both on the same day. Saturday Nov 9th, I will be with a few of the guild members in a side project called Fibre and Finery, and Jeremy (who I appreciate immensely) will be at the U of R working in the Knit Natural booth at the 8th True Knit Art Show "Crafternoon Delight". You don't want to miss out on any of these sales, there are lots of great handmade items, from many talented people in our community. Come say hi and if you want to keep tabs on sales and events you can always check my schedule. As a final note, I just wanted to mention that Jeremy and I celebrated out 5th anniversary on Sept 13th. I am very lucky to have found my soul mate. He is unbelievably supportive in everything I do, not only with coming up with all my colourway names, helping me felt soap and working with me at my sales, but he really is the other half of Knit Natural. I wrote a hat pattern, which is for sale at Cindy-Rella's and I asked Jeremy what I should call it. I wanted something to describe a relaxed casual hat... he of course came up with the perfect name "Hatkuna Matata" LOL!!! <3 Handmade Sask is a great community which gathers a lot of great handmade artists from this province in one place. This is a great group for, not only those wishing to shop local but also to network and build your own handmade business. They are hosing a week of giveaways starting Monday and I will be up first :) I am offering a free Knit Natural T-shirt in your choice of size/colour as well as 3 mini skeins of handspun yarn. You can check the Handmade Sask site for more info and get in on all the giveaways! The 4th annual guild sale is back! This is the time of year where the Regina Weavers and Spinners can sell all the things we have been working on over the year. You can do all your Christmas shopping at this sale. Items range from tea towels, scarves, yarn, felted soap, hats, pillows, bags, baby blankets etc and everything is handwoven, handspun, handknit, handmade etc. The creativity you find here is just so inspirational. I was doing spinning demos today and talking to a lot of interested people. We are also open tomorrow Oct 21st from 1-4 in the Senior Centre in the parking lot of the Neil Balkwill Centre. I hope to see you there and did I mention we have coffee and goodies being served all day? That’s what Jeremy goes for :P |
